About Robert C. Thompson

Robert C. Thompson began his career in the mail room at UNIVERSAL STUDIOS. In a short time, Bob had moved into the talent department, casting extras. It wasn't long before he was casting principles and signing contract players for the studio. Within 3 years of starting Bob was named Head of Talent and served in that capacity for seven years.

In 1968 Bob was recruited as Executive in Charge of Talent for CBS theatrical film division, CINEMA CENTER FILMS. Over the next three years, he supervised the casting of over 20 films.

Two years later, Thompson and Paul were producing their first feature length motion picture THE PAPER CHASE for 20th Century-Fox. The critically acclaimed film was nominated for 3 Academy Awards and won for Best Supporting Actor.

Under the banner THOMPSON-PAUL PRODUCTIONS, INC. the partners produced a number of films for television and an Emmy nominated series for CBS based on THE PAPER CHASE.

In the early 1980ıs, Bob donned the "director's cap" and began a new aspect to his career. He has two motion pictures for television and long list of episodic credits on his directorıs resume.

As an adjunct professor, Bob has taught classes in acting and directing at UCLA and at PEPPERDINE UNIVERSITY for a number of years.

In 1976, capitalizing on his years of experience in the talent area, Bob, again partnering with Rod Paul, formed GROUP III MANAGEMENT, INC.
